So what can I say about “Inception”, Is this film as good as the critics say it is ? … . and the answer is yes ! Hell Yes ! Inception will go down in the history books as the movie of the year of 2010. I came out abit bewildered because the trailer that was released that I posted here was so EPIC in scale and impressive that I was thinking “can Inception really deliver ?”. Believe it or not this kind of did have me in a state of panic while watching it, I haven’t felt like that Since I seen the new Star Trek for the first time. But  I do feel satisfied with what I saw. I don’t want to rant here again about how Chris Nolan is is the last true film maker in Hollywood so I won’t you can read that somewhere down there.

So lets get into it ! Whats Inception about ? Its a complicated movie and thats why I love it so let me try explain it in the most basic terms I can. “INCEPTION” meaning th concept of delving into someones subconscious while their sleeping to implant an idea that will naturally grow and fester into a fully fledged action. This is the main concept of the movie.

Dom Cobe played by Leonardo DiCaprio is apart of a group that creates the world of the dream through artificial means, they target a suspect and place them into that dream and then they fill it with their secrets … . then they break in and steal them ! Its a heist movie !.

We see at the start our characters Cobb and Arthur in a dream on an extraction job that goes wrong which leads to the loss of the teams “architect”. Here we are introduced to a brilliant concept that tells a suspect can be protected against extraction by the same kind of training as the extractor, this training creates a “safe” which is a protected area in the mind where the person keeps all their secrets safe and they cant be accessed, almost like trying to crack a safe in the bank heist movie.

Cobe is offered a job to help a super powerfull power supplier break up his competitions empire in result making him the one super power in energy, in return Cobe’s fugitive status will be

erased and he will be able to return home to the U.S. to see his children.

Cobe needs to create a new team to help with this inception.

Enter Arthur played by Joesph Gordon Levit, Cobe’s right hand man and team mate for many years as “The Point Man”. We meet Eames who is played by Tom

Hardy who is “The Forger” who’s main responsibility is to gather information on the target and forge what ever needs to be forged Finally we meet Adriane who is played by the magnificent Ellen Page as we all know from her title role in Juno. She is the new recruit in the team, she is the “Architect”. Her job is to design and build the world of the dream, a young prodigy.

Finally we have Fischer, “The Mark” played by Cillian Murphy, this is the target they will delve into his dreams and perform Inception. Fischer is the son and the inheriter to his father’s energy empire in which needs to be broken up in order for a successful job so that Cobe can go home.

THE MISSION: To break into Fischer’s dreams and plant an idea that will convince him to break up his father’s empire. Escape safe without loosing your mind and getting trapped. But there’s a problem a dream isn’t deep enough for this idea to grow naturally.

THE SOLUTION: A dream within a dream, a layer of dreams or in this case 3 layers are necessary to successfully implant the idea. The deeper they go the better the chance of the idea growing naturally. In incredibly well written explanation to how this will work, we are explained the idea of “the kick”, which we are all familiar with, that feeling of falling in a dream. This is what will wake them up from each layer of the dream.

I really cant explain much more without giving away the plot, but the best thing about this movie is the writing, its so intelligent and smart and when you start to listen to the conversation about “the kick” and “the safe” it all feels familiar and you have an idea of what their talking about. The script is genius.

Also the characters are great very relatable, my favorite was Eames by far. But you will be most emotionally tapped into the character of Cobe who’s story is very dark tragic mainly surrounding the memory of his deceased wife Mol. In a strange way she plays a pivital role in the movie even after her death.

All I can say is Inception is great, the best movie to be released since “The Dark Knight”. Go see it !
